If you don't operate any branches in Germany or Austria, no further steps regarding the fiscalization of your POS transactions are necessary. The setup process described below applies to exactly this case, or if you want to set up a branch for test and demonstration purposes. If this doesn't apply to you, please go to one of the following articles:
If you want to sell on the go at a trade fair, we've put together some tips and recommendations for you here:
Starting the setup
When you open the Pickware POS App for the first time, you can either start the configuration via Start setup or start demo mode. This configures your device to automatically connect to our demo shop, where you can test all functions for as long as you like. To connect your device to your actual shop, tap on Start setup. The setup wizard will guide you through all the necessary steps.
Pickware account login
To use the app, you need a Pickware account. If you've so far only used a Pickware account from the Shopware 5 world and want to continue using it, you must first initiate the migration process via account management. You can find more information about this here.
Connecting to your shop
Once you've logged in with your Pickware account, you need to connect the app to your shop. Because of the link to your Pickware account, your shop should already appear in the list and you just need to select it. Then tap Continue and, in the next window, tap Log in to shop.
In the next step, you set the device name. This is used to identify your iOS device in your Pickware account under device management. You can change the name at any time later in the app menu under Settings → Change device name.
Next, you need the login details for your Shopware 6 Administration.
The app then checks whether you still have enough free licenses and whether the Pickware POS version is compatible with the app version.
Selecting a branch and Sales Channel
In the next step, you can select the branch for which you want to register your POS and iOS device. Select an existing branch or, if you haven't created a branch yet, click on Create new branch. Here you now need to give it a name and select the country.
Next, you select the Sales Channel. When you install Pickware POS, a corresponding Sales Channel is already created in your Shopware Admin. However, you can also create your own Sales Channel at this point and specify the shipping method and payment methods to be used. Then click on Create branch.
Selecting or creating a POS
In the next step, you select the POS you want to link your iPad to. To do this, you can select an existing entry from the list or create a new POS. A POS can only ever be connected to one device at a time. If the selected POS is already linked to another device, a corresponding notice will appear, which you must confirm before the assignment is changed.
You can then select the warehouse you want to use. If you want to change this later, you can do so via the settings in the app menu.
Setting up printer and card reader
Before connecting your POS stand scanner to your cash drawer or receipt printer, be sure to check the firmware version of your receipt printer. You can find out how to check the firmware of your receipt printer in this article.
In the following windows, you can now connect a receipt or document printer, as well as a card reader, to your POS and assign different document types to specific printers or printer trays. You can access these menus again at any time via the settings in the app menu under Printer or Card reader and make adjustments.
You can find a brief guide on setting up your Mollie card payment device here.
Connecting devices
The printer or card reader simply needs to be on the same network as your iOS device. In addition, the app needs access to your local network. To do this, open the settings of your iOS device, search for the POS App, and enable the Local Network option there.
Printer
If your printer isn't network-capable or you want to print under Windows, you can use a print server. If you run into problems during setup or while using the printer, we've put together some tips here to help you troubleshoot the issue. If this information doesn't help, contact our Support Team.
Card reader
If you've already previously connected a Zettle by Paypal card reader to your app, it will be directly available for selection. Otherwise, tap Add card reader and select whether you want to connect a Zettle by Paypal device or a ZVT device, then follow the respective steps.
The PIN required for setup is the cashier PIN. You can get this from your terminal provider.
If you add a ZVT device, the Receipts on receipt printer option lets you also print your card payment receipts via the receipt printer. If this option is disabled, the receipts are printed via the card terminal instead.
You can find more information on setting up Zettle by Paypal on the provider's support page. Once your card reader is connected, tap Continue to complete the profile setup.
If you offer card payments in your shop, after configuring the corresponding devices, you should select the payment method to be used in the Sales Channel settings (Payment method for ZVT card terminal or iZettle payment method).
User selection
This completes the setup of the POS App. To be able to use the app, you now need to log in with your Shopware user. To do this, an app PIN must be set in the Administration and the Pickware POS User role must be assigned. If you use custom user roles, make sure that at least the Basic permissions and Perform setup entries are selected in the configuration under General → Permissions → Pickware POS. You can find more about user roles for the POS App here.
Starting demo mode & resetting the configuration
Your device can only ever be connected to one shop at a time. If you want to connect it to a different shop, you need to reset the configuration. Demo mode is an exception to this, meaning you can switch back and forth between your configured shop and demo mode at any time without losing the configuration.
To reset the configuration or switch to demo mode, you must first log out of the app. To do this, open the menu in the top left and tap this icon:
You will now return to the user selection window, where you can use the gear icon in the top right to reset the configuration or switch to demo mode.
Before resetting a POS, remember to perform a cash register closing. A subsequent cash register closing isn't possible. You can find more information on what to do if you forgot to do this here.
