How do I set up the POS App for countries without fiscalization?

Due to the fiscalization of all cash registers in Germany and Austria, the setup process for your cash register differs depending on whether your store is located in Germany, Austria, or a country without fiscalization.

If you don't operate any stores in Germany or Austria, no further steps regarding the fiscalization of your cash register transactions are necessary. The setup process described below applies exactly to this case, or if you want to set up a store for testing and demonstration purposes. If this doesn't apply to you, please go to one of the following articles:

How do I set up Pickware POS for trade fairs and pop-up stores?

To use the point of sale system, we recommend using an iPad, but you can also use an iPod or an iPhone. You can find more information about the cash register hardware we recommend here. You can easily download the POS App for the point of sale system from the App Store.

Starting setup

When you open the Pickware POS App for the first time, you can either start the configuration via Start Setup or start the demo mode. This configures your device so that you're automatically connected to our Shopware 6 demo shop, where you can test all the features for as long as you like. Please note that not all features available in POS for Shopware 6 are also available for Shopify.

To connect your device to your actual shop, tap Start Setup. The setup wizard will guide you through all the necessary steps.

Pickware account login

To use the app, you need to log in with your Pickware account.

Connecting your iOS device

In the following step, your iOS device is registered to your account. If connecting the new iOS device would exceed the number of cash registers booked, you'll receive a corresponding message and will need to either delete an existing device or increase the number of cash registers to continue. Devices and cash registers can be managed in your Pickware account.

Selecting a store

In the next step, you can select the store for which you want to register your cash register or iOS device. If available, select an existing store from the list, or create a new one. If your store isn't located in Germany, you only need to enter a name and the country. Then click Next.

Selecting a Sales Channel

In the next window, select the desired Sales Channel. If you haven't created a Sales Channel yet, you can also create a new one at this point. You can also select the shipping and payment methods to be used.

Selecting or creating a cash register

In the next step, you select the cash register you want to link your iOS device to. To do this, you can choose an existing entry from the list or create a new cash register. A cash register can only ever be connected to one device. If the selected cash register is already linked to another device, the previous link will be removed and the previous cash register can no longer be used. We therefore recommend only overwriting an existing link in exceptional cases.

Selecting a warehouse

Next, you can select the desired warehouse. If you want to change this later, you can do so via the settings in the app menu.

Setting up hardware

In the following windows, you can now connect a receipt or document printer as well as a Zettle card reader to your cash register. You can find all the details in this article. If you don't have suitable hardware yet, you can skip these steps for now and come back to them later via the Settings entry in the app menu. You can purchase the hardware we recommend in our shop.

User selection

After the app setup, you can log in with your Pickware credentials and, for example, try out the sales features.

Demo mode

When you start the app for the first time, you can choose between setup and demo mode on the start screen. Demo mode connects your device to our demo store, where you can test the app's features as much as you like.

A device can only ever be connected to one shop, with the demo shop being an exception. To switch between demo mode and your regular shop, open the app menu at the top left and log out. On the login screen, you can now start demo mode via the gear icon at the top right.

Before resetting a cash register, remember to perform a cash register closing. A subsequent cash register closing isn't possible. You can find more information on what to do if you've forgotten this here.
