Pickware POS synchronizes product and customer data with your Pickware Admin in real time. This means a working internet connection is required to sell with Pickware POS. Note that the internet connection is also needed for payment processing via debit/credit card.
Ensuring an internet connection
To ensure an internet connection, you can use the trade show's WiFi, if available. Note that a ZVT card terminal must be on the same network as your iOS device. Alternatively, you can purchase a Zettle Terminal for trade shows, which also works without a shared network with the iOS device.
Another option is to use a router with a SIM card to set up your own network. During the trade show, organizers may ask you to reduce your network's signal strength to avoid potential interference with other networks. Another option is to use an iPhone with mobile data instead of an iPad and connect your ZVT card reader via hotspot.
Settings in Pickware Admin
Optional settings
If you want to analyze your trade show sales separately, you can, for example, create a separate warehouse for trade shows in Pickware Admin and adjust stock accordingly by booking it in and out of your regular warehouse before and after the trade show. It's also recommended to create a dedicated Sales Channel with a default customer for POS sales.
Configuring tax rates
If the trade show takes place in a different country, you also need to create the corresponding tax rates. To do this, navigate to Settings → Shop → Tax in your Pickware Admin. Here, you can add tax rates for different countries. This is done centrally via the standard and reduced tax rates.
By clicking on the corresponding row, you can set a standard tax rate, a reduced rate, and a highly reduced rate for each country. Use this to create the tax rates you need.
In the product properties, you can then assign the standard or reduced tax rate to a product. For tax-exempt products, the highly reduced tax rate of 0% must be assigned. When selling at the POS, the correct tax rate is then selected based on the country set in the Sales Channel.
Note on price calculation
The gross and net prices in the product details are linked to each other when the lock icon is displayed as shown in the image above. This means that when you adjust the gross or net price, the other price changes accordingly. The basis for this is the tax rate listed at the very top in the tax configuration.
At the POS, the customer pays the gross price stored here regardless of their location. However, the corresponding net price is calculated based on the applicable country tax rate and may therefore differ from the price shown in Pickware Admin.
Remember to perform your cash register closing before deactivating the register you set up for the trade show. You can find more information on this here.
