Note: Pickware POS for Shopify is being discontinued. For new cash registers, we recommend Shopify POS. Learn more in Shopify POS and Pickware.
Pickware POS syncs product and customer data with your Pickware Admin in real time. A working internet connection is therefore required for selling with Pickware POS. Note that the internet connection is also needed to process payments by debit or credit card.
Ensuring an internet connection
To ensure an internet connection, you can use the trade fair Wi-Fi if it is available. Note that a ZVT card terminal must be on the same network as your iOS device. Alternatively, you can get a Zettle Terminal for trade fairs, which works with the iOS device even without a shared network.
Another option is to use a router with a SIM card to set up your own network. During the trade fair, the organizers may ask you to reduce the strength of your network to avoid potential interference with other networks. Another option is to use an iPhone with mobile data instead of an iPad and connect your ZVT card reader via hotspot.
Settings in Pickware Admin
Optional settings
If you want to evaluate your trade fair sales separately, you can, for example, create a separate warehouse for trade fairs in Pickware Admin and book stock in and out from your regular warehouse before and after the trade fair accordingly. We also recommend creating a separate Sales Channel with default customers for POS sales.
Configuring tax rates
If the trade fair takes place in a different country, you also need to create the corresponding tax rates. To do so, go to Settings → Shop → Tax in your Pickware Admin. Here you can add tax rates for different countries. This is done centrally via the default and reduced tax rates.
By clicking the corresponding row, you can set a default tax rate, a reduced rate, and a highly reduced rate for each country. Create the tax rates you need this way.
In the product properties, you can then assign the default or reduced tax rate to a product. For tax-exempt products, the highly reduced tax rate of 0% must be assigned. When selling at the POS, the correct tax rate is then selected based on the country stored in the Sales Channel.
Note on price calculation
The gross and net prices in the product details are linked to each other when the lock icon is displayed as in the image above. This means that when you adjust the gross or net price, the other price changes accordingly. The basis is the tax rate entered at the very top of the tax configuration.
At the POS, the customer also pays the gross price stored here, regardless of their location. However, the corresponding net price is calculated based on the tax rate of the applicable country and may therefore differ from the price shown in Pickware Admin.
Remember to complete your cash register closing before you decommission the cash register you created for the trade fair. You can find additional information here.
