In this article, we introduce you to the revamped batch picking process for orders in the WMS App. The update will be rolled out gradually to all users.
This article only covers batch picking. You can see how rolling picking works here.
Selecting orders
To start the new batch picking process, click the icon at the top right as usual, select the Collect mode, and select the desired number of orders. After clicking Retrieve orders, you'll land in the new batch picking view.
Capturing products
Once you've selected an order, the view is very similar to the new single order picking. For each product, you'll see the associated storage bin. In the lower section, you'll see which product is currently selected. When you scan the product, this is counted up below under Quantity. Once the required quantity is reached, the checkmark next to it turns green.
Alternatively, you can scan the product once and then confirm the quantity via the display. If you're not taking the product from the suggested storage bin, please first scan the actual storage bin or select it by tapping the Storage bin field.
For the entire quantity, you can conveniently use our long-press button to confirm all products at once. Simply hold down the button until the progress bar has finished running.
Scanning tips: If it's the correct product, you'll hear a confirmation signal and the screen of your iPod or iPad will briefly flash green — if it's the wrong product, you'll hear a different signal and the screen will briefly flash red. You can also pick an order manually without a barcode scanner by tapping the individual product positions. However, in this case, no visual or acoustic feedback is given, so make sure you're picking the correct product.
By default, the next product to be picked opens automatically, so you can always pick along the predefined, route-optimized path. If you want to pick the products in your own order, disable the Automatic preselection of the next pickable product option in the extension settings for Pickware WMS.
Using the menu at the top right, you can view information about the orders included and find the option for partial delivery, to defer, or to cancel the picking process.
Once an order line item has been completed, you'll find it below in the Picked products section.
Once all order line items have been picked, you can defer the entire batch process or continue processing it.
If you defer the picking process, the corresponding document for deferred batch picking processes is printed. The process can be resumed later by scanning the barcode.
If you want to adjust the assignment of products that have already been processed, you can do so at any time in this view:
Packing and shipping orders
Once picking is complete, the packing process starts. Here, you assign the collected products to the individual orders, pack them into boxes, and complete the orders, including printing documents and shipping labels. You can find the complete process in the article How does packing work in the WMS App?
Manual box assignment without the packing process: Alternatively, you can also manually assign the collected goods directly after picking, without going through the packing process. To do this, scan any product and enter a box number, or scan the corresponding picking box. The product is assigned to this box, and all other items from the same order are automatically assigned to the same box. Once the assignment is complete, the orders are located in the ready to ship tab, where you can print order documents and mark the orders as shipped.
What happens if I cancel a picking process?
If you cancel your picking process while it's underway, you can put the products you've already removed back into storage. You can find more on that here.
