In this article, we introduce you to the revised batch picking process for orders in the WMS App. The update will be rolled out to all users gradually.
This article only covers batch picking. To see how rolling picking works, check out this article.
Selecting orders
To start the new batch picking process, click the icon in the top right as usual and select the Batch mode, then select the desired number of orders. After clicking Retrieve orders, you'll land in the new batch picking view.
Recording products
Once you've selected an order, the view is very similar to the new single order picking. You'll see the associated storage bin for each product. In the lower area, you can see which product is currently selected. When you scan the product, this is counted up under Quantity below. Once the required quantity is reached, the checkmark next to it turns green.
Alternatively, you can scan the product once and then confirm the quantity using the display. If you don't take the product from the suggested storage bin, please scan the actual storage bin first or select it by tapping the Storage bin field.
For the complete quantity, you can conveniently use our long-press button to confirm all products at once. Simply hold the button down until the bar has fully progressed.
Scanning tips: If it's the correct product, a confirmation signal sounds and the screen of your iPod or iPad briefly flashes green — if it's the wrong product, you'll hear a different signal and the screen briefly flashes red. You can also pick an order manually without a barcode scanner by tapping the individual order line items. However, in this case, no visual or audio feedback is given, so make sure to pick the correct product.
By default, the next product to be picked opens automatically, so you can always pick according to the predefined, route-optimized path. If you'd like to pick the products in your own order, disable the "Automatic preselection of the next pickable product" option in the plugin configuration of the Pickware WMS plugin.
Using the menu in the top right, you can view the information about the orders included, and you'll find the option for a partial delivery, to set aside the process, or to cancel the picking process.
Once an order line item has been completed, you'll find it below in the Picked products section.
Once all order line items have been picked, you can set aside the batch process as a whole, or continue processing it.
If you set the picking process aside, the corresponding document for set-aside batch picking processes is printed. The process can be resumed later by scanning the barcode.
If you'd like to adjust the assignment of products that have already been processed, you can do so at any time in this view:
Packing and shipping orders
Once picking is complete, the packing process starts. In this process, you assign the collected products to the individual orders, pack them into boxes, and complete the orders including printing documents and shipping labels. You can find the full process in the article How does packing work in the WMS App?
Manual box assignment without the packing process: Alternatively, you can also manually assign the collected goods directly after picking, without going through the packing process. To do this, scan any product and enter a box number, or scan the corresponding picking box. The product is assigned to this box, and all further items from the same order are automatically assigned to the same box. Once the assignment is complete, the orders are in the ready to ship tab, where you can print order documents and mark the orders as shipped.
What happens if I cancel a picking process?
If you cancel your picking process while it's in progress, you can put the already removed products back into storage. You can find more about this here.
