How does the new batch picking work in the WMS App?

In this article, we introduce the revised batch picking process for orders in the WMS App. The update will be rolled out to all users successively. Here you'll find all the information about the previous procedure, in case the update hasn't been enabled for your app yet. Once the update has been rolled out to all users, you'll also find the new information in the usual place in the article How do I pick multiple orders at the same time?

Selecting orders

To start the new batch picking process, you can click the icon in the top right as usual, select the Batch mode, and choose the desired number of orders. After clicking Retrieve orders, you'll land in the new batch picking view.

Recording products

Once you've selected an order, the view is very similar to the new single-order picking. You'll see the corresponding storage bin for each product. In the lower area, you'll see which product is currently selected. When you scan the product, this is counted up below under Quantity. Once the required quantity is reached, the checkmark next to it turns green.

Alternatively, you can scan the product once and then confirm the quantity via the display. If you're not taking the product from the suggested storage bin, please first scan the actual storage bin or select it by tapping the Storage bin field.

Scanning tips: If it's the correct product, a confirmation signal sounds and the screen of your iPod or iPad briefly lights up green – if it's the wrong product, you'll hear a different signal and the screen briefly lights up red. You can also pick an order manually without a barcode scanner by tapping the individual product line items. However, no visual or acoustic feedback is given in this case, so make sure to pick the correct product.

Via the menu in the top right, you can view the information about the orders included and find the option for Partial delivery, Postpone, or Cancel the picking process.

Once an order line item has been completed, you'll find it below in the Picked products section.

After all order line items have been picked, you can postpone the batch process as a whole, or continue processing it.

If you postpone the picking, the corresponding document for Postponed batch picking processes is printed. The process can be resumed later by scanning the barcode.

When continuing processing, you'll see the usual old view for box assignment:

Now the collected goods are assigned. To do this, scan any product and then enter a box number, or scan the corresponding picking box. The product is now assigned to this box. All other items of the order are automatically assigned to the same box.

After completing the box assignment, the orders are in the Ready to ship tab. Depending on your configuration, an orange warning triangle indicates that order documents haven't been printed yet for the orders. You can trigger the printing either manually by selecting the corresponding order or automatically by scanning the picking box.

Once the package has been packed and picked up by the shipping service provider, you can mark the orders as shipped by scanning the tracking code on the shipping label, or in bulk via the overview of picking processes in the administration.
