How do I create action codes for picking boxes?

Action codes for picking boxes let you scan and register your picking boxes directly during multi-order picking with the WMS App. Barcodes and QR codes are especially useful for carts with many boxes, since they can store multiple numbers in a single code.

You can create action codes for picking boxes with any tool that generates barcodes (Code 128) or QR codes. However, if you want to create your own barcodes or QR codes for rolling order picking, the data they contain must follow a specific format. This format determines which box numbers are added when scanning.

^B<Kiste 0>[$<Kiste n>...]

Keep the following points in mind when creating QR/barcodes:

  • If you want to register a single box, use the prefix ^5.

  • If you want to register multiple boxes, use the prefix ^B.

    • Separate multiple box numbers with $.

  • You name the boxes via your code — the WMS App then adopts these numbers.

  • Example:

    • ^512 → adds box “12” to the order picking

    • ^B12$37$105 → adds boxes “12”, “37” and “105” to the order picking

Starting rolling order picking with a barcode or QR code

In the WMS App, you can add several picking boxes at once by scanning a single barcode or QR code.

To do this, simply open the rolling order picking setup and scan the barcode or QR code attached to your picking cart. All boxes linked to this code are then automatically added to the order picking. Boxes that have already been added are automatically skipped, and if the code doesn't contain any new boxes, the app displays a brief error message.

This feature makes it easier to start large order picking runs with many boxes, since you don't have to scan each box individually. You can start the scan either from the list of open orders — here, the scan opens the rolling order picking setup and adds the boxes directly — or you can start the scan directly in the rolling order picking setup, where the scan then only adds the missing boxes.
