If you don't select a customer for a sale at the cash register, all sales are assigned either to a default customer account, provided you have configured this. Otherwise, a new anonymous customer account is created for every sale.
However, you can also select an existing customer account at the cash register or create a new one, as long as you haven't selected a payment method yet. Purchasing with a customer account offers your customers the following advantages over anonymous purchasing:
The customer group and any resulting different prices are taken into account
Offline and online orders of a customer can be clearly allocated to each other
Orders can alternatively be sent to the customer by post if they don't want to take the order with them directly
Select an existing customer
To select an existing customer account, tap Add customer at the top right and then search for the relevant name or customer number. If you use customer cards, you can also scan the barcode and select the relevant account directly. You can find more on the topic of customer cards here.
Create a new customer account
To do this, also tap Add customer and then Create new customer.
A window then opens for entering the customer data. Please note that all required fields for creating a customer account in the online shop must also be filled in so that the customer account can be created in Shopware without any problems. Finish your entry with the Create button at the bottom.
Using the forgotten password function, the customer can set their desired password for their account at a later time and log in to your online shop directly.
When a customer is newly created via the app, the following flows from the Shopware Flow Builder are started:
checkout.customer.register (welcome email)
customer.recovery.request (email for setting the password)
newsletter.register (if newsletter registration was activated)
You can adjust the flows at any time if needed. You can find more about this in the Shopware documentation.
Customize the text of the email for setting the password
Because no password is assigned at the cash register, a newly created customer receives the email for setting the password. You can customize the text of this email in the Shopware Admin under Settings → Shop → Email templates, for example with "Set password" instead of "Recover password". The template exists twice, for customers and for admin users. Customize the template for customers.
Prevent emails to the default customer account
If you assign sales without a customer account to a default customer account, this account can receive emails such as shipping notifications, which then end up in your own inbox, for example. In the affected flow, add a rule so that the email is not sent if the Sales Channel is your POS Sales Channel. Alternatively, give the default customer account a tag and exclude this tag via the Rule Builder.
Rename the default customer account
Attention: Don't remove required fields such as zip code and city from the default customer account. Otherwise, every sale without a customer account will fail.
The default customer account is a normal customer in Shopware. You change its name in the customer overview of the Shopware Admin. Alternatively, under Settings → Extensions → Pickware POS, select a different customer for sales without a customer account.
Store the VAT Id of a business customer
Create the customer in the Shopware Admin as a B2B customer and enter the VAT Id there. You can then select them at the cash register.
