With the Shopware Rule Builder, you can create rules to make prices and discounts depend on specific conditions. At the cash register, however, the POS App only supports a subset of the conditions available in Shopware. As a result, rules can behave differently at the cash register than in the Shopware Admin.
In this article, you will learn which conditions are supported at the cash register and how unsupported conditions affect discounts & promotions as well as advanced prices.
Which conditions are supported?
The following Rule Builder conditions are supported at the cash register:
German | English |
Datumsbereich | Date range |
Wochentag | Day of week |
Zeitraum | Time range |
Verkaufskanal | Sales Channel |
Währung | Currency |
Kundengruppe | Customer group |
Kundennummer | Customer number |
Firmenkunde | Is business customer |
Anzahl abgeschlossener Bestellungen | Count of orders |
All other conditions are considered unsupported.
How are the rules structured?
A condition checks whether a certain statement is true, for example whether a customer belongs to a specific customer group. A rule consists of one or more conditions. These conditions can be linked with AND or OR. In addition, rules in Shopware can be nested using containers.
Whether a rule takes effect at the cash register therefore depends not only on which conditions are used, but also on how these conditions are linked within the rule.
Behavior for discounts & promotions
For discounts & promotions, an unsupported condition is treated as fulfilled at the cash register. So if a discount rule contains an unsupported condition, it is evaluated as if it were true.
If the conditions within the rule are linked with AND, the discount is still only applied if all supported conditions are fulfilled as well. If the conditions are linked with OR, the unsupported condition alone can cause the rule to be considered fulfilled and the discount to be applied.
The option Nicht mit anderen Aktionen kombinieren (Do not combine with other promotions) is not taken into account at the cash register.
Behavior for advanced prices
For advanced prices, an unsupported condition is treated as not fulfilled at the cash register. So if an advanced price contains an unsupported condition, it is evaluated as if it were false.
If the conditions within the rule are linked with AND, the advanced price cannot take effect at the cash register because not all conditions are fulfilled. If the conditions are linked with OR, the advanced price is only applied if at least one of the supported conditions is fulfilled.
Product-related conditions for discounts
Product-related conditions for discounts & promotions are not supported at the cash register. These include, for example, conditions that refer to specific products, tags, properties, or cart items.
Such conditions cannot be checked at the cash register. As a result, discounts at the cash register cannot be restricted to specific products using product-related conditions.
If a discount should only apply at the cash register under certain conditions, you should therefore only use conditions that are listed as supported in the list above.
How do I exclude individual products from a discount?
Individual products cannot be excluded from automatic discounts at the cash register. These options can help you:
Remove the discount at the cash register: Tap the discount in the cart and remove all discounts or a specific discount, for example via the trash can icon. You need a current version of the POS App for this.
Adjust the price on the item: Use the pencil icon on the item to increase the price by the discount amount or to apply the discount manually.
Advanced prices instead of a promotion: Do not set up sale prices via a promotion, but on the product in the Erweiterte Preise (Advanced prices) tab using a rule with a date range.
Tip: If a time-limited advanced price still applies after it has expired, use only the Date range condition in the price rule and remove any additional time conditions.
Multiple advanced prices for one product
If a product has multiple advanced prices with different rules, the POS App takes into account the rule prioritization stored in Shopware.
The priority is evaluated exactly as in Shopware: A higher number means a higher priority.
