Setting up hardware for POS and WMS

General note

For your scanner(s) or cash drawer to stay permanently connected to your iOS device via Bluetooth, you need to grant the app access to the Bluetooth function. To do this, open the app settings on your iPad / iPod / iPhone and look for the respective app. Enable the Bluetooth option there.

Receipt printer or cash drawer for Pickware POS

To use a Bluetooth receipt printer in Pickware POS, you first need to connect it via Bluetooth using the general Bluetooth settings on your iPad / iPod. You can find instructions for the hardware we recommend on the following manufacturer pages:

Note: If you want to make sure your hardware is compatible with Pickware POS, we recommend buying the hardware we recommend directly from our Pickware Shop.

Handheld scanner for Pickware POS

To use the POS handheld scanner as a barcode scanner in the POS App, you first need to switch the scanner into iOS mode and then connect it via Bluetooth using the general settings on your iPad / iPod. Please note that the scanner must not already be connected via Bluetooth to the iPad/iPod for this to work.

  1. Turn on the scanner and check that the laser for capturing barcodes appears when you press the scan button.

  2. Scan the following barcode to switch the scanner into iOS mode. The scanner will beep three times once the scan is successful.

  3. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your iPad/iPod. After a short search, the handheld scanner should be found and you can connect it to your iPad/iPod. This completes the scanner setup.

By default, the scanner switches to standby mode after five minutes of non-use and then needs to reconnect to the iPad when reactivated. The scanner manufacturer offers an alternative mode for this, in which the scanner stays active for eight hours. To use it, simply scan the barcode below. The battery will drain faster with this setting, so remember to charge the scanner daily.

Note: For more information on operating the POS handheld scanner, see the manufacturer's operating manual.

Barcode scanner for Pickware POS

Important: Please read this article before connecting your barcode scanner! A firmware update for your cash drawer may be necessary.

The POS barcode scanner is connected to the cash drawer or receipt printer via USB cable and is thus automatically connected to the Pickware POS App.

Since the POS App triggers its own beep sound when scanning, we recommend disabling the scanner's beep sound. To do this, scan the barcode below. You can also find it in the manufacturer's manual on page 52. The manual also contains many other configuration options that you can conveniently apply by scanning barcodes.

Card payment devices

The devices for card payment via ZVT and Zettle by Paypal are set up as part of the app setup for the POS App.

Barcode scanner sleeve for Pickware WMS

To connect the barcode scanner sleeve to your iPod or iPhone, you simply need to open the barcode scanner sleeve by pulling off the top part, place your device inside, and close the sleeve again. No further steps are necessary. You can find more information about the barcode scanner in the respective manufacturer's manual for the Linea Pro 5 or Linea Pro 7. You can find the name of your model on the sleeve's packaging.

Note: As long as you're not yet using one of our professional barcode scanner sleeves, you can use the camera on your iPod / iPhone to scan barcodes. To open the camera, tap anywhere on the screen and hold until the barcode has been captured.
