Amount is not transmitted to the card terminal
If you have to enter the amount manually on your card terminal, the terminal is usually not connected to the POS App. Only once it is connected does the POS App transmit the amount to the terminal automatically.
The Zettle by PayPal Reader and ZVT-capable card terminals, e.g. from Ingenico or CCV, can be connected to the POS App. Your terminal provider can tell you whether your terminal supports ZVT and is enabled for use via ZVT. Card terminals without ZVT support cannot be connected to the POS App. In this case, the amount is not transmitted automatically.
Note: To connect a ZVT card terminal, you don't install anything on the cash register, for example no TIM server. The only requirement is that your terminal supports ZVT and is enabled by the provider for use via ZVT.
To connect a ZVT card terminal, open the Settings in the app menu, tap Kartenlesegerät hinzufügen (Add card reader) and select that you want to connect a ZVT device.
For this you need the IP address, the port and the cashier PIN of your terminal. You get this information from your terminal provider. The terminal must be on the same network as your iOS device, and the POS App needs access to the Local Network in the iOS settings.
Additional information about the supported card terminals can be found in What hardware do I need to use Pickware POS?.
Problems or error messages with a connected terminal
If your ZVT card terminal is already connected to the POS App and you still run into problems or error messages, first check whether the setup of the POS App was done correctly.
Check your Wi-Fi connection. The card terminal must be on the same network as your iPad / iPod. Also check in the iOS settings for the POS App whether your ZVT device has access to the local network.
Check whether the IP address or the port of your terminal has changed. If the values no longer match those in the POS App, reconnect the terminal using the current values.
Check whether the terminal is switched on and has not frozen.
Check whether the ZVT interface is active on the terminal and that another protocol such as OPI is not set.
Check whether a firewall is blocking the connection between the cash register and the terminal.
If necessary, contact your card terminal provider and have them verify that your card terminal is correctly enabled for use via ZVT.
If you still receive an error message after consulting your card terminal provider, send us an error report via the app.
Then contact our Support so that we can help you resolve the error.
The terminal reports an error code or charged twice
If the terminal itself reports an error code, for example 0x83 „Funktion nicht möglich“, the cause usually lies with the terminal or its configuration. In this case, contact your terminal provider.
If a card was charged twice because the terminal reported an error even though the payment went through: The cash register only reacts to the error message from the terminal. Ask your terminal provider for its log to clarify the payments.
