How do I set up the Pickware WMS App?

When you open the Pickware WMS App for the first time, you can either start the configuration via Start setup or start the demo mode. This configures your device so that you're automatically connected to our demo shop, where you can test all the features for as long as you like. To connect your device to your actual shop, tap Start setup. The setup wizard guides you through all the necessary steps.

Pickware account login

To use the app, you need a Pickware account. If you've so far only used a Pickware account from the Shopware 5 world and want to keep using it, you first need to start the migration process via account management. You can find more information about this here.

Connect to the shop

Once you've logged in with your Pickware account, you need to connect the app to your shop. Since it's linked to your Pickware account, your shop should already appear in the list and just needs to be selected. Then click Next and in the next window click Log in to shop.

In the next step, you set the device name. This is used to identify your iOS device in device management within your Pickware account. You can change the name at any time later in the app menu under Settings → Change device name.

Next, you need the login credentials for your Shopware 6 administration.

The app then checks whether you still have enough free licenses and whether your Pickware WMS version is compatible with the app version.

Set app PIN

If the check was successful, in the next step you can set a PIN for the app. You'll need this PIN to log in to the app with your user. You can change the PIN later in the user settings. If you've already set a PIN in the Shopware Admin, this step is skipped. Once you've entered the PIN twice, click Next to go to printer setup.

Printer setup

Next, you can assign printers to different paper formats and document types. Under Paper formats, you'll find A4, A5, and A6 formats as well as various shipping label types. Under Document type, you'll find all document types that you can create in the admin.

To do this, the printer just needs to be on the same network as your iOS device. The app also needs access to your local network. To enable this, open your iOS device's settings, look for the WMS App, and enable the Local Network option there. If your printer isn't network-capable or you want to print from Windows, you can use a print server.

If you run into problems during setup or while using the printer, we've put together some tips to help you troubleshoot. If these don't help, contact our support team.

You can open this menu again at any time via the settings in the app menu under Printer and make adjustments.

Save different configurations for multiple shops

In the next step, you can name and save your configuration. The configuration includes all the settings you made during app setup. This way, you can create configurations for different printer setups or different shops and easily switch between them via the arrow at the top right.

Shopware user login

This completes the setup of the WMS App. To use the app, you now need to log in with your Shopware user. To do this, an app PIN must be set in the administration and the Pickware WMS User role must be assigned. If you use custom user roles, make sure that at least the Basic permissions and Perform setup entries are selected in the configuration under General → Permissions → Pickware WMS. You can find more information on user roles for the WMS App here.

Start demo mode & switch configuration

In addition to selecting a user, on the login screen you can also create additional configurations, rename or delete existing configurations, or switch to demo mode.

Settings for your iOS device

For a smooth day-to-day experience using the WMS App, we recommend making the following additional settings on your iOS device:

  • Under Settings → Face/Touch ID & Passcode, disable the requirement to enter a passcode to unlock the display.

  • Under Settings → Display & Brightness, set the auto-lock to, for example, five minutes, or turn it off completely.

  • Reduce the display brightness to achieve a longer battery life for the devices.

  • Check that the settings for your country are stored under Settings → General → Language & Region.

  • Move the WMS App to the quick access bar (dock) at the bottom of the display.

We also recommend using the Pickware App with the sound turned on, so you get audible feedback when scanning barcodes. Please note that, in addition to the volume control in the operating system, iPhones have a mute switch on the left side that must be turned off.
