How can I use gift vouchers and discounts at the cash register?

Shopware 6 — Use Shopware promotion codes, EasyCoupons and discounts at your Pickware POS cash register and learn how to redeem them.

At your Pickware POS cash register, you can redeem both Shopware promotion codes and vouchers created with the EasyCoupon extension from Net Inventors. You can also use discounts that you configure in Shopware under Marketing → Discounts & Promotions – with or without a promotion code, as long as the underlying rules are supported by Pickware POS.

You can find the specifics that apply to each of these in this article. Further down, you will also find general notes on redeeming voucher codes at the POS.

Shopware promotion codes

In general, promotion codes created via Marketing → Discounts & Promotions can also be redeemed at the POS.

In addition, discount promotions of the type No promotion code required are automatically taken into account at the POS if their conditions can be represented with the Shopware promotion rules supported by Pickware POS. If you use price rules to make certain promotions available only to certain customers, please also note the limitations of price rules in connection with Pickware POS.

EasyCoupons from Net Inventors

With the extension Gutscheine, Kaufgutscheine & Coupons - EasyCoupon Plugin von Net Inventors GmbH, you can create, sell and redeem vouchers in your online shop and at the cash register.

Notes on setting up the extension

You can find all the information on setting up the extension directly at NetInventors. Please note the following special requirement: for the vouchers to be redeemable, they must be marked as paid by the extension. This is done via the payment state. You will find a corresponding option in the extension settings. Here you can select one or more payment states:

Paid vouchers appear as follows in the Shopware Admin:

Creating and printing vouchers

Purchase vouchers from Net Inventors can be sold directly via the cash register. For a voucher to be found at the cash register, it must be assigned to a product. After payment, the barcode for the voucher can be printed on the receipt printer using the Print voucher(s) button.

The title on the voucher receipt is the name of the voucher from EasyCoupon. If no name is stored there, the name of the linked product is shown instead.

You can find general information on creating and configuring vouchers within the Net Inventors extension here.

Error when selling a voucher despite successful card payment

If an error appears when selling a voucher at the cash register even though the card payment was successful, the code format in the EasyCoupon extension may be incorrect, for example &d instead of %d. Correct the format in the Shopware Admin under Settings → Extensions → EasyCoupon. Valid formats include, for example:

  • %d%d%d%d%d-%d%d%d%d%d-%d%d%d%d%d

  • %s%s%s%s-%s%s%s%s-%s%s%s%s

Mixed formats of %d and %s are also possible.

Redeeming a voucher at the POS

Voucher codes can be redeemed at the POS in the cart menu via the menu item Voucher.

General notes on vouchers at the POS

Please note that some voucher functions are available in the Shopware Admin but not at the cash register:

  • Net Inventors vouchers of the type Individual amount are not supported at the cash register, because the amount cannot be selected and the voucher therefore cannot be printed. Use the voucher type Fixed amount instead and, if needed, create several vouchers with different amounts.

  • The Net Inventors function Maximum redemption amount per order is not supported at the cash register.

  • At the cash register, you can only sell vouchers with a fixed amount. For a permanent percentage discount, you can instead create a discount for a separate customer group under Marketing → Discounts & Promotions or use a permanent discount code.

  • If a purchase that was paid with a voucher is returned, the voucher is not recharged. In this case, sell your customer a new voucher at the cash register or pay out the amount in cash.

  • Not all price rules and discount promotions from the Shopware Admin are supported at the cash register. Here you can find a list of all supported price rules. When using unsupported price rules, they are automatically treated as fulfilled!
