In this article, you'll learn what significance the Shopify location has for your Pickware integration. Although you can create multiple locations in Shopify, only one of them can ever be directly linked to Pickware. All other locations are treated as external by Pickware. You can learn how to handle Orders from external locations in this separate article.
Below, you'll learn how the location assignment affects the processes of your online shop. In general: The Shopify location is used for all Pickware functions that export stock from Shopify, or transfer stock changes to Shopify.
We show you how to link the Shopify location with Pickware in a separate article.
Shopify location & Product import
As soon as your Shopify shop has been successfully linked with the Pickware Admin, a product import is started. This transfers all Products from your linked Shopify shop, as well as their stock in your default location, to Pickware.
Once the Products have been created, changes to product properties are automatically synchronized, but stock is then only transferred as part of the stock reconciliation.
Shopify location & Stock reconciliation
The stock reconciliation is divided into two processes. During the stock export, stock is exported from Pickware to the linked Shopify location. During the stock import, stock is imported from Shopify's linked location to Pickware.
The stock export can be automated. If you deactivate or delete the Shopify location selected in Pickware in Shopify, the automatic stock export is deactivated to prevent stock errors.

Shopify location & Order processing
For Orders that come in for the linked Shopify location, the following applies:
When Orders come in through Shopify, the available stock is reduced in both Shopify and Pickware, and the reserved stock increases. The available stock of the Products is calculated in Pickware based on the stock of all warehouses.
As soon as you ship the Order in Pickware, the stock is deducted simultaneously in Pickware and Shopify, and the reservation is thereby lifted.
Shopify location & Returns
Stock adjustments made as part of Returns, for example because a returned product is put back into stock, also correct the stock in the linked Shopify location.
