Before you can assign Deutsche Post products to your shipping methods and automatically create labels accordingly, you first need to configure a few settings.
Registering with Deutsche Post
To create shipping labels for Deutsche Post in Pickware, you need a Portokasse account with Deutsche Post, and you must enter its login credentials in the Pickware Admin. Please note that the Portokasse registration is separate from the registration for the Deutsche Post shop, and you'll receive different login credentials for each. You also need the Portokasse if you want to use the Internetmarke web service. You can find more information on this here.
Deutsche Post settings
Before you configure the Deutsche Post settings, make sure you have already configured the general settings for all shipping carriers. You can find them under Settings → Extensions → Shipping labels general. These settings apply to all shipping carriers you use. You can find all the details here.
You can find the settings specifically for Deutsche Post shipping under Settings → Extensions → Deutsche Post.
Sales Channel
Here you can define which of your connected Shopify shops ("Sales Channels") the following settings should apply to. By default, the settings apply to all connected shops. If you only have one Shopify shop connected to this Pickware Admin, still select the All Sales Channels option. If you select a specific shop, all fields are initially linked to the general settings. You can tell by the chain icon and the greyed-out fields. Click the icon to unlink the field and enter individual settings, while other fields remain linked. |
Deutsche Post login credentials
Enter the login credentials for your Portokasse account here.
Authorizing the Pickware application in the Portokasse
After entering the username and password for your Portokasse account, you need to authorize the Pickware application once in your Portokasse account. Without this authorization, shipping labels cannot be created — even if the login credentials are correct.
To do this, proceed as follows:
Open Settings → Extensions → Deutsche Post in your Pickware Admin.
Click "Check login credentials". You will then receive an error message.
Then log in to your Portokasse account:
https://portokasse.deutschepost.deOpen the Open authorizations section.
Confirm the authorization. You may receive an email with a confirmation code to verify your identity.
Then switch to the Business applications tab.
Open editing mode using the pencil icon.
Authorize our Pickware application and save the setting.
Return to Pickware and check the login credentials again.
After successful authorization, both the login credential check and the creation of shipping labels will work as expected.
Note on printing Deutsche Post labels
To avoid wasting labels, we recommend using printers for continuous labels. Our stamps are always placed in the top left corner, which means a lot of space remains unused on standard label sheets.
