How do I set up UPS for Pickware?

To be able to assign UPS products to your shipping methods and automatically create corresponding labels, you first need to make a few settings.

Registering with UPS

Pickware uses UPS's OAuth 2.0 API. To obtain the corresponding UPS credentials, proceed as follows:

  1. Create a UPS account and then log in to the UPS DeveloperPortal.

  2. Click on Create Application.

  3. Next, click on Add Apps.

  4. In the upper field, select the option I want to integrate UPS technology into my business and in the lower field select the account you just created. In the following steps, you'll need to enter contact details and a name for the app to complete the process.

  5. Then navigate to MyApps and click on the name of the app you just created. You'll now see an overview where you can also view the Client ID and Client Secret. You'll need to enter this information later in the Pickware Admin.

  6. Click on Add Products to go to the product selection. Add at least the products Authorization (O Auth) and Shipping to your app.

UPS settings

Before you configure the settings for UPS, make sure you've already made the general settings for all shipping carriers. You'll find them under Settings → Extensions → Shipping labels general. These settings apply to all shipping carriers you use. You'll find all the details here.

You'll find the settings specific to UPS shipping under Settings → Extensions → UPS.

Sales Channel

Here you can specify which of your connected Shopify stores ("Sales Channels") the following settings should apply to. By default, the settings apply to all connected stores. If you've only connected one Shopify store to this Pickware Admin, still select the All sales channels option.

If you select a specific store, all fields are initially linked to the general settings. You can tell by the chain icon and the grayed-out fields. Click on the icon to remove the link and make individual settings, while other fields remain linked.

UPS credentials

Enter your Client ID, Client Secret and UPS customer number here. If you want to use the test environment instead of the production environment, enable Use testing web service. If you've negotiated special discounted rates with UPS, you need to enable the Negotiated rates option so that the corresponding rates are used.

Privacy settings

  • Enable shipment notifications via email – If enabled, UPS sends a shipment notification email to the package recipient.

  • Custom text for shipment notification – Here you can optionally enter custom text for automatic shipment notifications. UPS includes this in the emails it sends.

  • Enable delivery notifications via email – If enabled, UPS sends a delivery notification email to the package recipient. To use this, the Send customer's email address to UPS option must be enabled.
