How do I set up UPS for Pickware?

Before you can assign UPS products to your shipping methods and automatically create the corresponding labels, you first need to make a few settings.

Registering with UPS

Pickware uses the UPS OAuth 2.0 API. To obtain the corresponding UPS credentials, proceed as follows:

  1. Create a UPS account and then log in to the UPS Developer Portal.

  2. Click on Create app.

  3. Next, click on Add apps.

  4. In the upper field, select the option I want to integrate UPS technology into my business and in the lower field select the account you just created. In the next steps, you need to provide contact details and a name for the app to complete the process.

  5. Then navigate to My apps and click on the name of the app you just created. You will now see an overview where you can also view the Client ID and Client Secret. You will need to enter this information in Pickware Admin later.

  6. Click on Edit app to get to the product selection. Add at least the products Authorization (OAuth) and Shipping to your app.

UPS Settings

Before making the settings for UPS, make sure you have already made the general settings for all shipping service providers. You can find them under Settings → Extensions → Shipping labels general. These settings apply to all shipping service providers you use. You can find all the details here.

You can find the settings specifically for UPS shipping under Settings → Extensions → UPS.

Sales Channel

Here you can define which of your Sales Channels the following settings should apply to. By default, the settings apply to all Sales Channels. If you only use one Sales Channel, still select the option All Sales Channels.

If you select a specific shop, all fields are initially linked to the general settings. You can recognize this by the chain icon and the grayed-out fields. Click on the icon to unlink it and make individual settings, while other fields remain linked.

UPS Credentials

Enter your Client ID, Client Secret, and your UPS customer number here. If you want to use the test environment instead of the production environment, enable Use testing web service. If you have negotiated special discounted rates with UPS, you need to enable the Negotiated rates option so that the corresponding rates are used.

Privacy Settings

  • Enable shipping notifications by email – When enabled, UPS sends a shipping notification by email to the package recipient. To use this, the Transmit customer's email address to UPS option must be enabled.

  • Custom text for shipping notification – Here you can optionally enter a custom text for automatic shipping notifications. UPS inserts this into the emails sent.

  • Enable delivery notifications by email – When enabled, UPS sends a delivery notification by email to the package recipient. To use this, the Transmit customer's email address to UPS option must be enabled.

Commercial Invoices for Export

If you generate UPS labels for shipments to third countries, you can also have commercial invoices created automatically. These are generated together with the shipping label and can then be downloaded or printed directly.

If your UPS account supports the Paperless Trade (PLT) feature, the commercial invoices are transmitted electronically to UPS, so that no physical document needs to be printed and attached to the package. If your account is not enabled for Paperless Trade, you can still download the generated commercial invoice as a PDF and print it to manually include it with the shipment.

Label Settings

Here you can specify the paper format for your UPS shipping labels.
