If you use our checkout solution Pickware POS and want to familiarize yourself with the sales process, you'll find all the steps needed to carry out test orders at the checkout here.
Preparation: Create test products (optional)
To try out the sales function in the POS App, your checkout needs to be set up. If you want, you can create your own test products. Alternatively, you can also use the products transferred from your Shopify Admin via the product import. In any case, also note the instructions further below on how to undo the test purchases.
Carry out test sales
Below you'll find brief instructions for carrying out sales at the checkout. You can find a detailed description of all the functions of the sales process at the checkout here.
Open the POS App. You'll find yourself directly in the cart view.
Add a product to the cart by scanning it or typing the product name into the search bar.
Go to Pay now and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the sale.
You'll then also find the order in the order overview of your Pickware Admin under Orders → Overview.
You can now use your test orders to run through various processes at the checkout and in your admin to familiarize yourself with how Pickware works.
Follow-up
Once you've finished your tests, you should cancel the corresponding orders so that no stock is reserved and all products are available for sale again. Below you'll find all the options for undoing your test orders:
Carry out a return at the checkout
You can use the POS App to process returns for purchases made in your store. You'll find all the steps here.
Cancel the order and manually book stock back in
You can also cancel your test orders manually. To do this, open the respective orders in the Pickware Admin and select the order status Cancelled. To correct the stock, proceed as follows:
Open the product you "sold" as part of your test order in your Pickware Admin.
In the Stock tab, you'll find the Adjust stock section. Make sure the Stock in option is selected at the top, then enter the quantity to be stocked in. If you haven't yet created any additional storage bins or warehouses, it's also fine to select the unknown storage bin in the main warehouse as the storage-in location. You can relocate your stock later. Ideally, add a comment explaining why the stock-in is taking place. Then click Stock in.
General note on accounting for test orders at the checkout
As soon as sales are paid for at the checkout, a cash book entry is automatically written. If you operate your store in Germany, the sale is also signed in accordance with the KassenSichV using fiskaly. In addition to cancelling and, if necessary, correcting the stock, you should therefore also record test orders as test orders in your accounting so that no real revenue is recorded.
