How does single order picking work in the WMS App?

In this article, we show you how to pick orders using the WMS App. You can find everything about editing orders via the Pickware Admin in this article instead.

If you use the Pickware Admin for manual B2B orders, you can generally pick these orders like a regular order via the WMS App. You can find all additional steps required here.

Our Rolling Order Picking and our Batch Order Picking offer you options for multi-order picking with the WMS App.

Filtering orders

In the WMS App, you can filter your orders using pick profiles. You can select the pick profile via the button to the left of the search bar in the order overview. You can find more information on setting up your pick profiles here.

If you have defined prioritized payment and/or shipping methods in your selected pick profile, matching orders will be displayed at the top of the list with a corresponding icon: a banknote for prioritized payment methods, a delivery truck for prioritized shipping methods.

Selecting the order

Use the Pick next order button to start the picking process for the first order in the list. You can also start with any order if your user account has the Pick any order permission. You can find more about configuring user roles here.

Once you have selected an order, you will see all order line items sorted by bin location position (if available) and by bin location. You can view the information about the order via the menu at the top right, and you'll also find the option for partial delivery, to postpone, or to cancel the picking process.

If there is a picking instruction for the order, it appears at the very top in a blue box. The customer's order comment, if available, also appears at this point. Picking instructions for products, if available, are visible directly next to the products.

Now tap on Start order picking.

Recording products

Once order picking has started, the view changes slightly. You will now see the corresponding bin location for each product. In the lower area, you can see which product is currently selected. When you scan the product, it is counted below under Quantity. Once the required quantity is reached, the checkmark next to it turns green.

Alternatively, you can also scan the product once and then confirm the quantity via the display. If you're not taking the product from the suggested bin location, please scan the actual bin location first, or select it by tapping the Bin location field.

Scanning tips: If it's the correct product, a confirmation signal sounds and the screen of your iPod or iPad briefly lights up green — if it's the wrong product, you'll hear a different signal and the screen briefly lights up red. You can also pick an order manually without a barcode scanner by tapping the individual product line items. However, no visual or audible feedback is provided in this case, so make sure you pick the correct product.

If you have configured that additional information, such as serial numbers or similar, is required, a corresponding prompt will appear when recording the line item. You can find more information on this setting here.

Once a line item has been completed, you will find it below in the Picked products area.

Completing order picking

Once you have scanned all line items, the invoice and/or delivery note will be created and printed depending on your configuration. Next, you can create your shipping label and ship the order.

If needed, you can also postpone orders or only carry out partial deliveries.

Displaying and managing order picking processes in the Shopware Admin

Under Kommissionierung → Kommissioniervorgänge (Order Picking → Order Picking Processes), you can see all order picking processes that are currently in progress, postponed, or completed. These views correspond to the Postponed, In Progress, and Ready to Ship tabs in the WMS App. Using these views, you can postpone, cancel, or ship ongoing picking processes via the Shopware Admin if needed. You can find more information on this in this article.

What happens if I cancel an order picking process?

If you cancel your order picking process while it's in progress, you can restock the products you already picked. You can find more about this here.
