How do I select a customer account at the POS App?

If you don't select a customer for a sale at the POS App, all sales are either attributed to a default customer account, if you have configured this. Otherwise, a new anonymous customer account is created for each sale.

However, you can also select an existing customer account at the POS App or create a new one, as long as you haven't selected a payment method yet. Buying with a customer account offers your customers the following advantages over an anonymous purchase:

  • Consideration of the customer group and any associated different prices

  • Clear assignment of offline to online orders of a customer is possible

  • Orders can alternatively be shipped to the customer by mail if they don't want to take the order directly with them

Select an existing customer

To select an existing customer account, tap on Add customer in the top right and then search for the corresponding name or customer number. If you use customer cards, you can also scan the barcode to select the relevant account directly. You can find more about customer cards here.

Create a new customer account

To do this, also tap on Add customer and then on Create new customer.

A window will then open for entering the customer data. Please note that all required fields for creating a customer account in the online shop must also be filled in so that the customer account can be created in Pickware without any issues. Complete your entry at the bottom using the Create button. Using the forgot-password prompt, the customer can set their desired password for their account at a later time and log in directly to your online shop.

When creating a new customer via the app, the following flows from the Flow Builder are triggered:

  • checkout.customer.register (welcome email)

  • customer.recovery.request (email for setting the password)

  • newsletter.register (if newsletter registration has been activated)

You can adjust the flows at any time if needed; you can find more about this here.
