Configuring the Cash on Delivery Service Option

The Cash on Delivery service option is available in the shipping adapters for DHL, GLS, Swiss Post, Austrian Post, and UPS. You can find the corresponding configuration fields under Customers → [Name of the shipping carrier] → Configuration:

  • [only for DHL and Austrian Post] Bank account for cash on delivery payments – Enter the account holder, IBAN, and BIC of the account to be used for cash on delivery payments here.

  • Payment methods for cash on delivery – To ensure that the Cash on Delivery service option is automatically selected when creating shipping labels for orders with the Cash on Delivery payment method, the corresponding payment methods must be stored in the plugin configuration.

The reference (payment purpose) for the transfer that DHL or Austrian Post makes to you is determined automatically based on the information contained in the order. If a "transaction ID" is set, it is used as the reference. This means, for example, that orders processed via payment service providers such as PAYONE can also be handled without any issues. If no "transaction ID" is set, the order number is used, and the reference is then Order no. ORDER_NUMBER.

Important: The invoice amount used is the total order amount including shipping costs from Shopware. DHL charges an additional cash on delivery fee.

If the Cash on Delivery service option has been set up correctly, the Cash on Delivery checkbox is enabled by default for all orders with a cash on delivery payment method when creating the first shipping label. If you create additional labels, for example because you want to ship an order in multiple packages, the checkbox is disabled to prevent accidentally creating multiple cash on delivery labels for one order. Regardless of this, you can manually check or uncheck the box at any time, for example if you want to create a shipping label without the cash on delivery option for a subsequent delivery, or if you want to ship an order that originally had a different payment method as a cash on delivery shipment anyway.
