How can I postpone orders?

Shopware 6 — Pause picking processes at any time and resume them later using the "Postpone order" button in the WMS App or the three-dot menu.

In the WMS App, you can postpone partially picked orders or ship them as a partial delivery. Below you will find more information about postponing orders.

You can pause the picking process of an order at any time using the Postpone order button.

If your WMS App has already been enabled for the new single picking, you will find the option to postpone in the three-dot menu at the top right.

A document is created for the postponed order, listing all products that still need to be picked.

Note: When you postpone an order, the goods that have already been picked stay in the picking box. The stock is not booked back to the bin location. If you want to put the goods back, cancel the process and put them back into stock, see How can I put canceled picking processes back into stock?.

In on-premise installations, you can customize the document for postponed orders by adapting the template. To learn how to adapt document templates, read the article How do I configure and customize my order documents?

You can also postpone processes during packing via the three-dot menu. Learn more in the article How does packing work in the WMS App?

Resuming postponed picking processes

Using the barcode at the top right of the Postponed order document, you can reopen postponed picking processes at any time. Alternatively, you can find all paused orders across all warehouses in the Paused tab in the WMS App. If you continue picking an order that was started in a different warehouse, the warehouse is updated accordingly.

Picking an order with goods from multiple warehouses

Orders are not assigned to a warehouse. In the WMS App, you select the warehouse at the top center and see the orders that can be picked there. If the goods of an order are located in two warehouses, you have two options.

Ship in one shipment

  1. Pick everything that is available in warehouse A.

  2. Postpone the order.

  3. Switch to warehouse B at the top center.

  4. Continue the postponed process there and complete it.

Ship in two shipments

Perform a partial delivery in warehouse A and ship it. You then pick the rest in warehouse B.

Note: The delivery note from the WMS App only contains the items that were picked in the current pass. If you need a delivery note for the entire order, create it in the Shopware Admin.
