Every device running the WMS App works for exactly one location. It only shows the fulfillment orders, warehouse zones, and stock of that location — so your employees on site only pick what is actually stored there. What locations and warehouse zones are is explained in Locations and fulfillment orders with Pickware.
Which location does my device use?
Existing devices are automatically assigned to the location that their previously selected warehouse zone belongs to. If this warehouse zone is later moved to a different location, the device moves with it.
Newly set up devices ask for the location right after the shop login.
Change location: Settings → Select location. This is necessary, for example, if a scanner permanently moves to a different branch store.
The location is saved on the device, not on the logged-in user. If you cannot find the menu item Select location, the switch to locations is not yet active for your shop.
What the device shows
Picking list: only fulfillment orders that are to be shipped from this location.
Warehouse zone selection: only the warehouse zones of this location.
Product view: the stock of your location. You can expand the stock of the other locations below it.
Picking
Picking is done per fulfillment order, no longer per order. If an order consists of multiple fulfillment orders from the same location, it appears multiple times in the list accordingly. In the preview before you start, you can see which line items belong to the fulfillment order you are currently working on.
As soon as you start picking, Pickware reports the fulfillment order in Shopify as In progress.
Fulfillment orders that are on hold do not appear in the picking list. This way, no goods are picked that cannot be shipped afterwards. As soon as Shopify releases the fulfillment order again, it appears again.
Picking across multiple warehouse zones
If part of the goods is in a different warehouse zone of the same location, you pick in two steps:
Pick everything that is available in the current warehouse zone.
In the prompt at the end, select Postpone instead of shipping partially.
Change the warehouse zone at the top.
Resume the postponed picking process there and complete it.
Keep the app up to date
Keep the WMS App up to date on all devices. Older versions do not know locations and fulfillment orders. They still pick the correct products, but show incomplete or unsuitable lists and can generate error messages for fulfillment orders that are on hold.
Unlike updates of the Pickware Admin, app updates are not installed automatically — they run via the App Store of your device.
