If you are developing your Shopware 6 shop locally and install the Pickware extension there, linking it to your Pickware Account may not complete, or the license may not be recognized. This is due to how licensing works technically.
How does licensing work?
When you link the Pickware extension to your Pickware Account, your browser is redirected to the domain stored in your account (the so-called APP_URL). Through this redirect, the extension receives a license ID, which is saved and used to validate the license.
The only thing that matters here is the domain your browser actually calls — not whether this domain is also reachable from outside (from the internet).
Common pitfall: Different domain for local access
For licensing to work, the domain you call in your browser must exactly match the APP_URL stored for the shop in your Pickware Account. If you access your shop locally via localhost or another address, for example, while a different domain (e.g. sw6-stage.deinshop.de) is stored in your account, licensing fails.
With a corresponding entry in the local hosts file on your computer, you can make sure your browser accesses your local environment when calling the stored domain, so that the address in the browser's address bar matches the domain stored in the account.
Purely local environments without a publicly reachable domain
For staging and test environments with a publicly reachable (sub)domain, you can use a free staging license instead, see Set up a staging license for Pickware.
There is no separate permanent license for local environments: for each paid live license, there is exactly one free staging license. It is therefore best to replace the local environment with the staging environment. As an agency, you can alternatively use a partner license from your partner account.
Database copied from the live shop or a staging environment
If you copied the database of your local development environment from the live shop or a staging environment, it also contains its license entry. It is stored in the table pickware_license_bundle_plugin_installation. The local environment then cannot be connected to your Pickware Account.
Attention: Only delete the entry in the database of your local environment, never in the live shop.
In the database of your local environment, delete the entry in the table pickware_license_bundle_plugin_installation. Then connect the extension again under Settings → Extensions → Pickware via Connect now. The extension creates the entry anew in the process.
To prevent this from happening again with future copies, leave this table out when copying the database. You can find further license errors and their solutions in What can I do if Pickware doesn't recognize my license?
Further help
If the problem persists even though the domain called in the browser matches the APP_URL stored in your Pickware Account, contact Pickware Support with the affected domain and the exact error messages, so that the cause can be checked using the server logs.
