In this article, we show you how to create labels for storage bins to further simplify your warehouse processes. For example, this lets you easily select the associated storage bin by scan during stocktaking or when putting away products.
Creating labels in Pickware Admin
To create storage bin labels, go to Lagerhaltung → Lager und Lagerplätze (Warehousing → Warehouses and storage bins) and select the desired warehouse there. Switch to the Lagerplätze (Storage bins) tab and click Etiketten erzeugen (Generate labels) at the top if you want to generate labels for all storage bins. Alternatively, you can select individual storage bins using the checkbox.
In the following window, enter the dimensions of your labels and click Etiketten erzeugen (Generate labels) again.
You will then receive the generated labels, sorted by storage bin code, as a PDF file for download.
Creating labels externally
Alternatively, you can create storage bin labels with any tool that can generate barcodes (Code 128). To do this, the input must be in the following format:
^3
the warehouse's code
$
the storage bin
For storage bin A-01-05 in the main warehouse, this would look as follows: ^3HL$A-01_05.
How can I use Avery Zweckform labels with Pickware?
Currently, Pickware ERP only supports printing one label per page. This means that the widely used Avery Zweckform format (multiple labels on one sheet) can't currently be selected directly via the label template. However, you can still use this format via the print settings of your PDF viewer or printer driver.
Workaround: printing multiple labels on one page
Create your labels as usual via Pickware (e.g. from goods receipt or the product details).
Open the generated PDF file. This usually contains several pages with one label each.
Open the print menu of your PDF viewer (e.g. Adobe Acrobat).
Under Page Sizing & Handling, select the Multiple option.
Then specify how many labels should be printed per page (e.g. 4 × 8 or 3 × 10, depending on the Avery Zweckform sheet used).
Before the actual print run, do a test print on plain paper to check the alignment.
You can find detailed instructions directly from Adobe: Print multiple pages per sheet (Adobe Acrobat)
If your print program doesn't offer a multi-page function, you can use free online tools to merge multiple PDF pages onto one page and then print as usual onto Avery Zweckform sheets.
