What role does the default supplier play in supplier ordering?

As soon as a supplier is assigned to a product in Pickware, that supplier automatically becomes the default supplier. With Pickware Advanced or Professional, you can also assign multiple suppliers to a product and freely choose which one is the default supplier. In this article, we'll show you how the default supplier affects demand planning and supplier orders.

Default supplier and purchase price

The purchase price, which you can manage in the product details under the General tab, is linked to the respective default supplier and their price in the Suppliers tab. This means that if you change the price in one of these places, it will also be automatically overwritten in the other place.

Default supplier on the purchase list

The default supplier is preset when you add a product to the purchase list. There, you can adjust the supplier by double-clicking on the column. The order suggestion and order quantity are then adjusted accordingly.

Default supplier for supplier orders

Within a supplier order, you can adjust the purchase price of the products included. When saving, you'll be asked whether you want to permanently apply the price to the respective supplier. If this happens to be the default supplier, the purchase price in the product details under the General tab will be overwritten accordingly.
