As soon as a supplier is assigned to a product in Pickware, it automatically counts as the Default supplier. With Pickware Advanced or Professional, you can also assign multiple suppliers to a product and freely choose which one is the default supplier. In this article, we show you how the default supplier affects demand planning and supplier orders.
Default supplier and purchase price
The purchase price you can maintain in the product details on the General tab is linked to the respective default supplier and its price on the Suppliers tab. This means that if you change the price in one of these places, it is automatically overwritten in the other place as well.
If the default supplier uses a different currency than your shop, you maintain the purchase price only on the Suppliers tab, in the supplier's currency. Pickware calculates the purchase price on the General tab from it, using the exchange rate at the time of the last change, in your shop's default currency. If the exchange rate changes later, it is only recalculated the next time you save the supplier price. You can find more information in the article How can I purchase from suppliers in a foreign currency?.
Default supplier on the purchase list
The default supplier is preselected when you add a product to the purchase list. There you can in turn change the supplier by double-clicking in the column. The purchase suggestion and order quantity are then adjusted accordingly.
Default supplier in supplier orders
Within a supplier order, you can adjust the purchase price of the products it contains. When you save, you are asked whether you want to permanently apply the price for the respective supplier. If this is the default supplier, the purchase price in the product details on the General tab is overwritten accordingly.
