How do I configure mixed taxation?
If you use Pickware with Shopify, shipping costs and tax amounts from Shopify are transferred to Pickware and displayed accordingly on invoices and credit notes in Pickware.
So that Shopify can calculate shipping costs proportionally with different VAT rates (e.g. 7% and 19%) and we can then display them correctly on our order documents, you can use the app Shopify Tax . We'll show you step by step how to configure this below:
| |
Then, at the bottom of the Global settings , activate the option Include VAT in product prices and shipping rates and Charge VAT on shipping.
Now select the region relevant to you
Make sure that VAT collection is active for Germany.
Under Tax rates and exemptions, there must be no tax overrides set for shipping costs.
Switch back to your home page and open |
Now you can also tax the shipping costs of your products with different tax rates and have this displayed on your order documents.
Display on our documents
If Shopify taxes shipping costs proportionally with multiple VAT rates (e.g. 7% and 19%), Pickware takes over the tax amounts transmitted by Shopify and displays them accordingly in Pickware and on documents.
In Shopify, it's visible on the order that the shipping costs are taxed with multiple tax rates.
In Pickware, the order is displayed with the shipping costs and tax amounts transferred by Shopify. The shipping costs appear as a single line item.
On invoices and credit notes, the shipping costs line item is also displayed as a single line item. In this case, the proportion of shipping costs attributable to each tax rate isn't shown separately. However, the tax amounts are still taken into account accordingly.
For mixed-taxed shipping costs, the shares per tax rate aren't shown separately in the shipping line item on documents. Instead, the tax split is taken into account through the calculated tax amounts.
Effects on DATEV posting records
Pickware's DATEV export works with the amounts calculated in Pickware and is therefore correct. Since the shipping costs are displayed as a single line item on the invoice and the shares per tax rate aren't shown separately, minor discrepancies may occur when comparing amounts per tax rate between the invoice and the DATEV export (e.g. due to rounding).
