This article provides information on picking bill of materials products and how they behave compared to regular products.

Bills of materials don't have their own stock, as they are always assembled at the time of picking. The availability of the bill of materials in the online shop is calculated based on the availability of the assigned products.

Just like with regular products, you can subsequently adjust the quantity of a bill of materials product that's already in the order. What's not possible is subsequently adding a new bill of materials product to an already existing order. Likewise, you cannot create orders with bill of materials products directly as an entity via the API. In both cases, the products contained in the bill of materials would not be added to the order.

Bills of materials can only ever be shipped in full, to ensure a smooth process and error-free display on documents. On the pick list and in the WMS App, all assigned products are always displayed, not the bill of materials itself.
