About the Plugin
The Bills of Materials plugin enables the sale of composite products, so-called bill-of-materials products or product sets. These are virtual products that consist of several other products maintained in Shopware, e.g., a shaving set as a bill-of-materials product, consisting of a razor, blades, and foam. Certain attributes of the bill-of-materials product, such as availability, are accordingly derived from the attributes of the respective sub-products and are calculated live. You can find more information about the attributes of bill-of-materials products here.
Compared to a bundle, a bill-of-materials product is an independent product. For the customer in the frontend, there is no discernible difference from other products. Only after the purchase is the bill-of-materials product split into its sub-products, which are then added as order line items. The order can be processed and shipped based on these line items.
Note: To avoid chaining, no other bill-of-materials products can be added to a bill-of-materials product. Bill-of-materials products therefore always consist of regular products. For this reason, products that are already assigned as sub-products to a bill of materials can no longer be marked as a bill of materials themselves.
Since the bill-of-materials product is treated as an independent product in Shopware, variant products of the bill of materials can also be created. Different sub-products can be assigned to each variant of the bill-of-materials product.
Note: The Bills of Materials plugin only supports checkout of orders created via the frontend, with Pickware POS, or via Magnalister. Checkout of orders created via the Shopware API, CSV import, or directly in the database is not possible.
