With a stock movement, you change the stock of a product directly in the WMS App — without a goods receipt, an order or a stocktake. You add stock to a bin location, remove it from a bin location, or move it from one bin location to another. This is how you can, for example, replenish an empty bin location with stock from another bin location.
When do you need a stock movement?
Typical cases are a correction after a counting error, writing off breakage or internal use, and rearranging the warehouse. A stock movement is distinct from two other processes:
With a goods receipt, stock arrives in the warehouse as part of a delivery or supplier order — with a document and a reference.
With a stocktake, you count the stock and adopt the counted quantity.
A stock movement is the way to handle everything that has no such reference.
Getting started: product or bin location
In the app menu, open the Stock movements area. Below the headline you will see the current warehouse zone — use this selection field to switch it if you want to work in a different zone.
Below that, you decide how you want to start:
Product – You search for or scan a single product and move its stock.
Bin location – You search for or scan a bin location and move its contents.
Use the icon on the right in the search field to start the scanner instead of typing in a search term.
The three types of stock movement
As soon as you have selected a product, the Move stock screen opens. At the top you see the product with its product number, total stock, manufacturer and weight. Below that, you choose the type of movement:
Add – Stock is added from outside the warehouse. You only specify the destination bin location; the From side shows External.
Remove – Stock leaves the warehouse. You only specify the source bin location; the To side shows External.
Move – Stock changes its bin location. You specify both bin locations. The total stock does not change.
The movement is displayed as a flow from top to bottom: From at the top, To at the bottom, and the quantity in between. This way you can see at a glance in which direction the stock flows.
Moving stock
Choose the type: Add, Remove or Move.
Tap Select source bin location or Select destination bin location and choose the bin location — or scan its label using the icon on the right in the card.
Set the quantity using − and +. The display in the middle shows it as Pieces.
If needed, add a comment via Add comment, for example the reason for a write-off. Comments you have already used are available for selection; an existing comment can be changed via Edit comment.
Complete the booking using the button at the bottom of the screen. It carries the name of the selected type and only becomes active once all required information has been provided.
As soon as the source and destination are set, each card shows you a stock preview: the current amount on the left, the amount after the booking on the right — decreasing in red, increasing in green. In addition, each card shows the warehouse zone of the respective bin location.
Moving stock across warehouse zones
A stock movement is not tied to the warehouse zone in which the app is currently working. The current zone is preselected, but you can move stock from any warehouse zone to any other — the cards show you the associated warehouse zone for each bin location. You do not need to switch the app to a different zone beforehand.
Moving stock between locations
If you work with multiple locations, you can also use this method to move stock to a different location. Choose a bin location in a warehouse zone of the other location as the destination. You need the latest version of the WMS App for this.
Your device stays assigned to its location. If you want to work at a different location, switch it in the app menu under Settings → Select location.
Moving an entire bin location
If you start via Bin location instead of Product, you move the entire content of a bin location. Using Move all products, you move everything stored there to another bin location.
