Not only orders are tied to a location, but also returns, goods receipts, and supplier orders. You control which location is used in each case through location roles. For an explanation of what locations and warehouse zones are, see Locations and fulfillment orders with Pickware.
Set location roles
In the location overview under Warehousing → Locations, use the three-dot menu of a location to define which role it takes on:
Default location — used when no other location is specified.
Default receiving location — goods receipts end up here if you don't choose a different location.
Default for returns — its address is printed as the recipient address on return labels.
Within a location, the same logic applies one level deeper: Each location has a default warehouse zone and a default receiving zone.
Returns
Returns are assigned to a location. This determines where the returned goods are expected and put back into stock — and at which location they are displayed in the WMS App.
Return labels use the address of the location you have set as the default for returns. They are not tied to the original fulfillment order: Even if an order was shipped from several locations, the return goes to your default for returns.
If the return should go to a specific area of your location, for example a returns warehouse with its own house number, store the different address on the corresponding warehouse zone.
Goods receipts and supplier orders
Goods receipts and supplier orders also carry a location assignment. In the WMS App, a device only sees the goods receipts and supplier orders of its own location.
If you don't choose a different location when creating one, the default receiving location is used, and within the location, the default receiving zone.
Stocktake and stock valuation
You still carry out stocktakes and the valuation of your stock per warehouse zone, not per location. In the Start stocktake and Create stock valuation report dialogs, the location a warehouse zone belongs to is also shown when you select it — so you can tell apart warehouse zones with the same name at different locations.
If you want to take a full inventory of a location, count all of its warehouse zones one after another.
Pickware POS
A cash register works for exactly one warehouse zone of a location. Sales and returns at the cash register book the stock of this warehouse zone.
During setup, you therefore first choose the location and then the warehouse zone. If you only have one location, the location selection is skipped and you choose the warehouse zone directly.
If you create a new warehouse zone while the setup is open, reload the list so that it is available for selection.
Pickup orders appear at the cash register of the location that is supposed to fulfill them. An order whose fulfillment order is assigned to a different location is not offered for pickup at this cash register.
