In this article, we'll show you step by step how to create a test order in Shopify, generate a DHL shipping label for it, and finally ship it via Pickware Admin. Below you'll also find the process described in this article as a video.

Creating a Test Order in Shopify
First, create a test order in Shopify:
Open the Orders entry in the menu on the left, then click Create order in the top right.
Now add products, select a customer, and choose a shipping rate under Select shipping or delivery.
Then click Collect payment → Mark as paid → Create order at the bottom.
Your test order has now been created in Shopify Admin and has already been automatically transferred to Pickware Admin. Now switch to your Pickware Admin. The order should appear there under Orders → Overview.
Setting Up DHL
Before you can generate a shipping label for your order, a shipping provider must first be configured. In this case, we'll use DHL shipping as an example.
To do this, navigate in Pickware Admin to Settings → Extensions → Shipping Labels DHL. Enter your DHL access data for the DHL business customer portal here and click Save. Then click Retrieve contract data. This will automatically populate your contract information into the fields below. Save again using the blue button in the top right.
For testing purposes, you don't need to make any further settings here for now. However, before you use Pickware in production, you should later also go through the other configuration options. You can find all information about DHL and the other shipping integrations in a separate article here in the Help Center under Setup → Configuring Shipping Methods.
Setting Up the Sender Address
The next step is to set up the sender address so that it can be printed on the shipping labels. To do this, navigate to Settings → Extensions → Shipping Labels General and fill in the fields in the Sender Address section.
Editing and Shipping the Test Order
Now you can edit your test order. To do this, open the order overview again (Orders → Overview) and click on the order you just created. To create the invoice, you can use the quick button Create invoice.
In the next window, click Create document.
Alternatively, you can create the invoice and other documents, such as the delivery note, in the Documents tab.
Next, we'll create a shipping label. To do this, switch to the Shipping Labels tab and click Create shipping label.
Here, select DHL business customer shipping in the Shipping Provider field, then click Create label in the bottom right.
Now navigate back to the General tab and click Ship order.
Confirm that the stock should be deducted from the main warehouse. This will change the delivery status to Shipped and the order status to Completed.
Result in Shopify
Your order has now been shipped in the system. Switch back to your Shopify Admin and refresh the page. The order status has been updated there accordingly, and you can see all the changes made in the Timeline section.
