How do I configure Pickware WMS in the Pickware Admin?

In the Pickware Admin, you'll find the configuration options for Pickware WMS.

Extension settings

For Pickware WMS, you'll find various settings related to the processes within the app in your Pickware Admin under Settings → Extensions → Pickware WMS.

Picking

In the Picking section, you define how shipping labels are created, orders are marked as shipped, and the individual picking types are configured.

Confirmation for shipping label creation

Here you determine how shipping labels are created in the WMS App:

  • Create shipping labels fully automatically – Shipping labels are generated and printed at the configured point in time without further interaction.

  • Show shipping label creation view before creation – At the configured point in time, the shipping label creation view opens, where the shipping method and shipping address must be checked and the creation of the shipping label must be triggered manually.

Marking orders as shipped

Here you define when an order is marked as shipped in the WMS App:

  • Mark orders as shipped manually – An order is only marked as shipped once the barcode on the shipping label has been scanned or the order has been shipped via the Mark as shipped button.

  • Mark order as shipped automatically – An order is automatically marked as shipped as soon as a shipping label has been successfully created and printed. Please note that this may also automatically send an order confirmation to the customer and that no further shipping labels can be created for this order via the WMS App.

Single-item picking

The following settings apply to single-item picking. Shipping labels can only be created after the order documents have been created — incompatible options are grayed out.

  • Shipping label creation and printing – Define when shipping labels should be created and printed (e.g. after picking is completed).

  • Document creation and printing – Define when order documents (invoice, delivery note) should be created and printed.

  • Automatic pre-selection of the next product to pick – If enabled, the next product to be picked is automatically pre-selected after a product has been scanned.

Rolling picking

The following settings apply to rolling picking. Shipping labels can only be created after the order documents have been created — incompatible options are grayed out.

  • Shipping label creation and printing – Define when shipping labels should be created and printed (e.g. manually at any later point in time).

  • Document creation and printing – Define when order documents should be created and printed (e.g. manually in the "Ready for shipping" tab or by scanning the picking box after picking is completed).

  • Automatic pre-selection of the next product to pick – If enabled, the next product to be picked is automatically pre-selected after a product has been scanned.

  • Additional packing process after picking – If enabled, a packing process starts after picking, during which all products are scanned, packed, and shipped again. [to be verified: name of the option and for which picking types it is available or mandatory]

Batch picking

The following settings apply to batch picking. Shipping labels can only be created after the order documents have been created — incompatible options are grayed out.

  • Shipping label creation and printing – Define when shipping labels should be created and printed (e.g. after packing is completed).

  • Document creation and printing – Define when order documents should be created and printed (e.g. after packing is completed).

  • Automatic pre-selection of the next product to pick – If enabled, the next product to be picked is automatically pre-selected after a product has been scanned.

  • Packing mode – Define how the packing process proceeds after picking: Product by product (the collected products are assigned one after another to the boxes of the individual orders) or Order by order (an order is fully packed before the next one begins).

Single-parcel picking

The following settings apply to single-parcel picking.

Goods receipt

  • Putaway strategy – Determine how bin locations are suggested during putaway with the WMS App:

    • Prioritize existing bin locations – The default bin location is suggested first. If this doesn't exist, another bin location of the product is suggested. If the product isn't in stock at any other bin location, an empty bin location is suggested.

    • Prioritize empty bin locations – The default bin location is suggested first. If this doesn't exist, an empty bin location is suggested. If no empty bin location exists, another bin location of the product is suggested.

  • Release goods receipt automatically after recording – If this option is enabled, the Recorded status is skipped and the goods receipt is directly given the status Released. The included products can then be put away seamlessly following the recording. If the option is disabled, the goods receipt must first be released in the Pickware Admin after recording before putaway can continue.

  • Automatically print goods receipt document – If this option is enabled, a goods receipt document is generated when the goods receipt process is interrupted. By scanning the barcode printed on it, you can resume the process at a later point in time. The goods receipt process is interrupted if the setting above (Release goods receipt automatically after recording) is disabled or if the Put away later option is selected during the process.

  • Allow return acceptance in the WMS App – Controls whether new returns can be created and existing returns can be put away in the WMS App. If you use a returns portal that requires complete processing within the portal, this option should be disabled.

You can find more details on goods receipts and their configuration options in these articles:

Stocktaking

  • Show expected stock when counting a product – Controls whether the expected stock of the bin location is shown in the WMS App when counting a product.

Settings per shipping method

In the settings for each shipping method, you can make additional configurations for the WMS App. You'll find these settings under Settings → Shipping → [Desired shipping method].

If you use our shipping carrier integrations, you can make additional settings for shipping labels per shipping carrier.

WMS document printing

You can define which documents should be generated or printed during picking for each shipping method.

WMS return label

Additionally, for certain shipping carriers, you can set whether a return label should be printed automatically after picking with the WMS App. Please note, however, that this option is only available for shipping carriers that support the creation of return labels.
