In this article, you'll learn how to record the initial cash register balance and correctly perform a cash register skimming.
Recording the initial cash register balance
When setting up a cash register for the first time, you need to record the initial cash register balance before the first sale. To do this, make a deposit equal to the amount of change and add a comment such as Initial cash register balance or Initial cash balance, so you can keep track of the deposit later on.
If the cash register isn't fully emptied every day, but instead only skimmed down to the initial cash register balance, you only need to record the initial cash register balance once, since the closing balance from the previous day is always automatically carried over as the new initial cash register balance.
Performing a cash register skimming
If you want to skim money from your cash register, you need to make a corresponding withdrawal. Here too, add a clear comment for better traceability in the cash register report.
