If you want to automatically get the right box size suggested for orders, you can implement this via the Flow Builder. With this, you can use Rules and Flows to easily define yourself which box size should be suggested under certain order conditions.
Procedure
Create a rule
First, create a rule that accesses the dimensions of the order line items. Here's an example:
This rule should apply when the height, length, or width of a line item exceeds a certain value. The defined rule then needs to be linked to a flow.
Create a flow in the Flow Builder
Open the Flow Builder in your Pickware Admin.
Create a new flow with, for example, the trigger Order placed / Order / Received.
Then add a condition that refers to the rule you created earlier.
Then define Assign custom field as the action and formulate the corresponding picking instruction that should be assigned to the line item.
Using rules and flows, you can create completely personalized packaging suggestions. You're not limited to a product's dimensions alone — you can also use this for products with a certain weight and/or from a specific manufacturer that require special packaging, for example.
Example use cases
Automatic selection of the standard carton based on weight or volume.
Avoiding incorrect packaging and unnecessary filler material.
Supporting new employees during picking.
Notes on special packaging for specific items.
This method only suggests a box size and doesn't replace fully automated packaging optimization. However, you can combine as many rules and flows as you like to flexibly map out your packaging system.
