Properties and attributes of the bill-of-materials article

Calculated and derived values

Many article attributes of the bill of materials are calculated from the attributes of the included articles, which means the values of the bill-of-materials article shown in the Basic information tab are not accurate. Instead, you'll find the calculated values in the Bill of materials tab, in the lower right area.

  • Active – If a sub-article is inactive, the entire bill-of-materials article becomes inactive.

  • Available stock – This is calculated from the available stock of the sub-articles divided by the quantity of the sub-article in the bill of materials. The availability of the bill of materials is determined by the smallest value here. This means the bill of materials is available as often as the article with the lowest availability, depending on how many times that article is included in the bill of materials.

  • Availability – Whether an article is available or not depends, among other things, on the stock level as well as on whether Clearance sale is activated for it. The Release date also affects the availability of the articles and therefore the bill of materials.

  • Delivery time – Corresponds to the delivery time of the sub-article with the longest delivery time. For the delivery time of all sub-articles, a numeric value must therefore be entered, e.g. 9 or 12. Expressions such as 9-12 or approx. 10 days should not be entered.

  • Maximum purchase quantity – Calculated from the Maximum purchase quantity of the sub-articles or the global shop setting, taking into account how many times the sub-article is included in the bill of materials.

  • Weight – The weight of a bill-of-materials article in the storefront is calculated as the sum of the individual weights of the sub-articles.

  • Release date – If one or more sub-articles have a release date set, the release date that lies furthest in the future applies to the bill-of-materials article.

  • Total – Calculated from the sum of the individual prices of the sub-articles.

  • Discount – Calculated from the bill-of-materials price in relation to the sum of the individual prices.

Customizable values

Despite the calculated values, to give you the option of manually adjusting values of the bill of materials, or changing certain attributes of the bill of materials in the database — for example, if you're using a custom development in your shop that accesses a value in the database — the corresponding fields in the article details of the bill-of-materials article can be edited as usual in the Basic information tab (this also applies to the Available stock). However, the calculation of the values in the shop itself always happens live based on the sub-articles.

The changes made, or the values entered, are relevant for functions and extensions that use the value of the article stored in the database. To make it easier to recognize the calculated fields of the bill of materials, they're marked with an additional icon.
