In addition to the metafields automatically created by Pickware (e.g. picking instructions or invoice comment), you can also transfer your own Shopify order metafields to Pickware. The content of these metafields is stored as custom fields in Pickware and is then available to you, for example, on order documents.
Requirement
The metafields you want to transfer must already be created in your Shopify Admin under Settings → Metafields and Metaobjects → Orders.
Configure metafields for the transfer
In the Pickware Admin, open the desired Shopify Sales Channel under Sales Channels.
Switch to the Order import (Bestellimport) tab.
You will see a table with all order metafields created in Shopify. For each metafield, the name, description, and data type from Shopify are displayed.
Enable the checkbox Transfer to Pickware (Nach Pickware übertragen) for each metafield you want to import.
Click Save.
After saving, Pickware automatically creates a custom field set named "Order metafields from {Sales Channel name}" ("Bestellmetafelder aus {Name des Verkaufskanals}"). The custom fields included take over the help text from the Shopify metafield definition. The data type is mapped accordingly — text, numbers, checkboxes, and dates, among others, are supported.
How are the metafields imported?
Once the configuration is saved, the content of the selected metafields is automatically transferred to Pickware with every order update. Even if the content of a metafield changes in Shopify, the new value is written to the corresponding custom field in Pickware during the next sync.
The imported custom fields are read-only in Pickware. You make changes to the values in Shopify. Using the three-dot menu in the metafields table, you can open the respective metafield definition directly in the Shopify Admin.
Display custom fields on documents
For the imported order metafields to appear on your invoices, delivery notes, or other order documents, configure the desired custom fields in the document settings.
Note on the custom field set
The automatically created custom field set (under Settings → System → Custom fields) is managed by Pickware. You should not manually add additional custom fields to this set. In the set, you will find a link back to the Sales Channel configuration, which you can use to adjust the metafield mapping.
